Joe started his formal music studies at the age of seven. He began performing publicly by age ten and participated in many State and National Competitions. Joe has studied at the Hartt College of Music, University of Hartford. His interest in vocal music led him to attend a graduate level workshop in choral conducting at the Georgia State University under the direction of Dr. John Haberlen. Joe holds a Music Degree with honors from Kennesaw State University where he studied piano with Professor and International Steinway Artist, David Watkins. He has attended piano Master Classes with concert artists' Vladimir Feltsman, Lorin Hollander, Jose Feghali and Andre Watts and seminars with Seymour Bernstein and Dr. Robert Pace.
Joe has earned a certificate in Jazz Education from the IAJE Teacher Training Institute conducted at Clayton State college and University.He has recently earned graduate credits through an extension program from Baker University and the University of Miami in affiliation with the International Association of Jazz Education.
Joe is an active member of the Jazz Education Network, Georgia Music Teachers Association, Cobb County Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association, where he is recognized as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in piano. Joe serves as a volunteer for the Mountain View Arts Alliance.
Joe has worked as a church accompanist and freelance soloist. He enjoys playing and teaching classical, jazz and sacred music. His non-musical interests include martial arts in which he holds a fourth degree black belt as a Master Instructor and Certified Examiner at Dynamic Self Defense International in Marietta.
